Field Trip to Cottonwood Creek

A little over a week ago we had the opportunity to go to our Cottonwood Creek project. Jerry Sanders showed us around and taught our interns and staff about the different product options for retention walls and how they affect the current, erosion, and vegetation.
Here’s what our intern, Braden Strother, learned:
“Jerry talked to us about the types of weirs he considered and used to manipulate the direction and speed of the current. He explained how all of the components have an effect on another part of the stream, so it is important to consider what side effects may be caused by changing the stream flow, as to not cause unintended erosion to other portions of the stream.”
Thank you so much Jerry for showing us around!
