Twin Creeks Project Highlight

#TBT to the completion of our Twin Creeks project in Allen, TX.

For this project, the Twin Creeks HOA requested Cardinal Strategies perform a site investigation to determine the cause and provide a solution to repair a headwall at the guard house entrance to Wimberly.

Cardinal determined that the downstream outfall of the culvert was becoming unstable due to water migration through pipe joint leakage and due to rapid erosion of the downstream channel.

The community had tried to stabilize the outfall with large rock rip rap, but this erosion issue is not suitable for a rock rip rap application.

Cardinal recommended a drop structure made of keystone blocks with a gabion wire bottom and plunge pool solution made of big block since the flowline difference from the outfall pipe to the natural channel was approximately 10 feet.

The pipe joints were sealed to prevent water from undermining the structure and a drainage system was installed behind the structure to alleviate any hydrostatic water pressure that builds up behind the structure walls.
