Stormwater Compliance Inspector

Cardinal Strategies' Environmental Division is looking for a part-time stormwater inspector to perform assigned weekly inspections for construction projects to maintain compliance with stormwater regulations (federal, state, and MS4) and assess the best management practices of the site. Inspectors are responsible for reporting site compliance with all relevant permits, the site-specific Storm Water Pollution Plan (SWPPP), and any other applicable requirements as well as serving as a resource for clients.

Job Description

The primary responsibilities of this position include:

• Perform assigned weekly and rain event inspections (if required) on designated days
• Prepare and email accurate, detailed, and complete inspection reports on the same day inspection is performed
• Problem-solve and collaborate with site contacts regarding compliance and BMP issues
• Update the BMP maps for each project to accurately reflect any change occurring on site
• Review project information and prepare for new inspection sites prior to performing the first inspection
• Timely submittal of communication/documentation for inspection starts and stops as well as communication with the office staff about any billing or frequency changes
• Communicate and assist with coordination of project close-out (filing of NOT, MS4 notifications)
• Deliver and install signs
• Maintain signs/CSNs for readability, accuracy, and condition (i.e. good condition, damaged, etc.)
• Meet with project managers (PMs) on-site at each inspection, if PM is present. If the PM is not present, communicate via phone/email updates about the site to accompany report
• Perform administrative tasks as requested
• Collaborate with and support environmental team members
• Attend and actively contribute to bi-monthly meetings
• Manage existing client relationships for existing and new business

Job Requirements & Skills

• Knowledge of BMPs, TPDES regulations, and MS4 requirements or willingness to learn and go through applicable training
• Ability to build, establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, contractors, site contacts, and regulators
• Certified Erosion, Sediment, and Stormwater Inspector (CESSWI) certification is a plus
• Microsoft Office and computer skills are a must
• Organization and time management skills are required
• Desire for continued education in stormwater compliance and environmental space
